Dear St. Francis School Families,
Creator God, help us as we learn.
May we have the discipline to devote ourselves to our academic studies.
Help us take what we learn and apply it to our lives.
May our knowledge be used to serve you, dear God,
as we reach out to others and make the lives of those
who struggle around us a little better. Amen
ST. FRANCIS SCHOOL VIRTUES PROGRAM: St. Francis Catholic Elementary School has had a strong tradition of promoting the virtues associated with devoted religious life. As a staff, we will continue the Virtues Program, “Following in Jesus’ Footsteps,” to instill in our students the desire to practice these religious virtues both at home and at school. Although there will not be a structured curriculum taught on a regular basis, the core of the program will be the recognition of “teachable moments” that arise each day.
Each month at St. Francis, we will focus on a different, specific virtue school wide. When a student is found using behavior exemplifying any virtue, they will be recognized with footprints on the wall in the parish hall. Each month, approximately two students from each class will be selected and celebrated at morning Mass the last Wednesday of each month and receive a certificate. Students will be recognized for exhibiting virtuous behavior pertaining to any one of the religious virtues and it will not necessarily be the virtue of focus for that month.
Also, some teachers are using additional recognition within their class when they catch a student acting virtuous. 4YK students will be “Caught Showing Character” and will be recognized with a butterfly on the wall and a certificate.
If your K-5 student will be receiving a certificate at Mass, parents will be notified on Monday of that week if you would like to attend Mass and celebrate with your child.
JMC MESSAGING INFORMATION: Our test message (text, voice and/or email) will be held on Friday, October 20th at approximately 1:00. If you do not receive a message generated from our JMC Messaging Center for your desired messaging services please contact the school at 273-4391.
HOME AND SCHOOL DUES REMINDER: If you have not turned in your Home and School dues, please take care of that this week. This money is divided among the teachers to be used to purchase items such as stickers, incentives, student prizes, materials for students to make their parents’ Christmas gifts, Mother’s Day gifts, etc. throughout the year for their students. Thank you!
