FIELD TRIPS: If you plan to chaperone a field trip, be sure that proper Safe Environment forms are on file in the school office and your background check is current. Also, our parish requires everyone who volunteers to fill out and sign the Volunteer Workers Hold Harmless Agreement. If your paperwork is not up to date, the required forms are included in your weekly envelope. Remember, forms were due by September 21st.
OCTOBER MENU: The breakfast and lunch menu for the month of October is included in today’s newsletter. The 4YK and Kindergarten snack menu is also included for families with children in those grades. Please check the bottom of the menu for the monthly cost for October meals. A number of children request a second carton of milk at lunch. The first carton is included in the price of the meal, but a second carton is charged to your family account at a price of 30 cents.
WATKINS FUNDRAISER: The sale will run from Sep. 25 through Oct. 10. No late orders will be accepted. Catalogs and order forms are included in this packet.
HOME AND SCHOOL DUES REMINDER: As with being a member of an organization, there are dues. As a member of the Home and School Association, each family is required to pay $10.00. This money is divided among the teachers to be used to purchase items such as stickers, incentives, student prizes, materials for students to make their parents’ Christmas gifts, Mother’s Day gifts, etc. throughout the year for their students. If you have not turned in your Home and School dues, please take care of that this week. Thank you!
ELLSWORTH HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING ITEMS FOR SALE – SEPT. 27 & 28: On Tuesday and Wednesday this week several EHS students will come to St. Francis during lunch to sell Homecoming items. A price list is included in today’s packet. Homecoming is on Friday, September 30th.
PURPLE & WHITE DAY - SEP. 29: Students are encouraged to show their Ellsworth spirit by dressing in Panther colors (purple and white) on Thurs. Sept. 29 for Homecoming. Face paint & hair color are acceptable, but please no wigs, shoulder pads, cleats, etc.
DIOCESAN TEACHER INSERVICE - NO CLASSES – FRI., SEPT. 30: St. Francis students will not have classes on Friday, Sept. 30 as our teachers will be attending a Diocesan Teacher In-service at McDonell High School in Chippewa Falls on that day.
GRADES 4YK & K - FIELD TRIP TO THE AFTON APPLE ORCHARD – MON., OCT. 3: 4YK and Kindergarten students will take a field trip to the Afton Apple Orchard; 14421 90th St S.; Hastings, MN. on Monday, October 3rd.
SCHOOL COLORS DAY/CELEBRATION OF THE FEAST OF ST. FRANCIS/PET BLESSING - OCT. 4:
The feast day of our school and parish patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi, is Tuesday October 4. This day is always one of great celebration for our entire parish! We will attend the 8:30 a.m. Mass on Tuesday, and students are encouraged to show their school spirit by dressing in school colors, blue and white. We do not permit face paint or hair color on any school color days. We will have a special blessing of animals, following the Mass, on the grassy area east of our church. There is a special sign-up sheet included at the bottom of this newsletter asking for parents or grandparents who would be willing to bring an animal or pet to be blessed after Mass and taken home again immediately following! Please, no pets or animals in classrooms! Please return this form by Wednesday, Sept. 28th. Our 4YK students will also attend the pet blessing that day.
FOURTH GRADE WILL RECEIVE THEIR BIBLES – TUESDAY OCTOBER 4: The Knights of Columbus will be presenting our fourth grade class with their bibles on Tuesday, October 4 during Mass.
HOME & SCHOOL ASSOCIATION MEETING – THURSDAY, OCT. 6: The Home and School Association will hold its first meeting of the year at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6th in the parish hall. Please join us to learn how you can be a part of the excitement of our school. Invite a friend, or one of our new families to come with you! If you have a question or topic that you would like addressed at the upcoming Home and School Association meeting, please submit it to President, Anne Matzek: email@example.com or 651-301-2810. It’s important to plan the agenda ahead of time, so that the meeting can move along efficiently. It’s sure to be an informative and fun meeting! All parents or guardians are encouraged to attend at 6 PM on Thursday, Oct. 6th. Child care will be provided in a classroom, snacks will be served after the meeting and by attending you’re eligible for a door prize
GRADE 5 - FIELD TRIP TO THE MN ZOO – MON., OCT. 10: Fifth grade students will take a field trip to the MN Zoo on Fri., Oct. 10. Please return the enclosed permission slip and fee by Wed. Oct. 5th.
FIFTH GRADE MEMORY BOOK QUESTIONNAIRE: If you have not returned your Fifth Grade Questionnaire please do so this week. Remember to include a Kindergarten photo of your child!
PICTURE RE-TAKES - OCT. 28: Our picture re-take day is scheduled for Fri., Oct. 28. If you wish to have your child’s photo re-taken, please return the complete original package to the office by Wed., Oct. 12.
MENU CHANGE FOR WEDNESDAY: We will be having Chicken Sandwiches instead of Chicken Nuggets.
