Dear St. Francis School Families,
“Life’s most persistent
and urgent question is,
“What are you doing
- Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

4YK REGISTRATION FORMS: Registration information was mailed to potential 4YK students on January 10. If you do not received this letter, most likely I do not have your child’s name on our recruitment list but I’d love to add him/her! Please call me (715-273-4391), send a note, or e-mail for more information.
VISION/HEARING SCREENING: Vision screening for Grades 4YK-1 students will be on Monday, January 23, and hearing screening for Grades 4YK-2 will be on Friday, January 27. Any recommendations for further testing will be sent to parents via mail.
2016-2017 YEARBOOK ORDERS: Orders are now being taken for this year’s yearbooks. As in the
past, the yearbook will be delivered next September, allowing us to include photos through the last day of school! The price for the all-color, 28 page, soft-cover yearbook is $20.00. Please make checks payable to St. Francis School. The order deadline is Wednesday, January 25. The order envelope is included in last week’s envelope. You may write one check for all of your children, and only one envelope is needed.
RECORDERS - GR. 4: Fourth grade students are reminded to bring their recorders and books for music class on Thursday. Those who purchased one through the school will receive theirs this week.
TUITION DUE: If you are on Plan 2 for tuition (two payments a year), tuition is due now.
WEDNESDAY MASS MUSIC: Please contact the school if you know of anyone who might be able to play piano/organ for the Wednesday morning Mass that is attended by our students.
FIRST RECONCILIATION - TONIGHT: Second grade students will receive First Reconciliation at 6:00pm tonight. (Update: Canceled due to freezing rain in the forecast for tonight.)
END OF SECOND QUARTER - JAN. 19/NO SCHOOL - JAN. 20: The second quarter ends on Thursday, January 19. There is no school on Friday, January 20.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK OPEN HOUSE - JAN. 29: We will join in the national observance of Catholic Schools Week Jan. 29 - Feb. 4, and kick off the week with an Open House on Sun., Jan. 29. Students in grades 1-5 are asked to sing in the choir for the 10:30 a.m. Mass. Our Open House on Sunday will begin at 9:00, close during the 10:30 Mass, and continue again after the 10:30 Mass until 1:00 p.m. The Knights of Columbus will serve a pancake breakfast on this morning as well.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Parent volunteers are needed to run our book fair during Catholic Schools Week and at our Open House on Sunday, January 29. All information and training will be provided and a flexible schedule will be available during the week. Please contact Mary Gardas at school or by email.
GR. 5 PARENT & STUDENT MTG - “GROWING IN LOVE” - FEB. 13: Wonder how you’ll talk with your child about his/her body changes as he/she approaches puberty? Alice Heinzen and Jeff Arrowood, of our diocesan Office of Family Life, have a presentation, entitled “Growing in Love”, for fifth grade parents and their child that conveys the information children need to know, integrated with appropriate humor and a deep respect for God’s gift of sexuality. Fifth grade students and their parents will meet for this presentation on Monday, February 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Because of the sensitive nature of the puberty topics that will be covered, no child may attend without his/her parent present.
GR. K-5 ROLLER SKATING TRIP: Our skating party has been set for Friday, February 17 for
Kindergarten – Fifth Grade at Wooddale Recreation Center in Woodbury! As always, we need the help of many parents to make this activity possible! The sign-up sheet for parent chaperones, as well as the student permission slip, will be sent home closer to the date.
CARNIVAL RAFFLE: We will be selling raffle tickets at upcoming church events, where we will have the golf cart on display within the parish hall. Please consider working at the sales table. We need you! Review the dates and sign up here: http://signup.com/go/19gp8P
Events include Swing Dance, KC Breakfasts and School Open House. If you have not volunteered before, we will be glad to have you and will set you up with all of the details. We need a team of 2 for each event.
