Dear St. Francis School Families,
PRAYER FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK 2018
Dear Jesus, thank you for all the blessings and treasures you have showered upon us. Thank you for family, friends, knowledge, wisdom, and all your angels and saints who guide us in our journey of building up your kingdom. We ask you, Lord Jesus, to bless our gifts, bless our lives, and bless this special week. Amen
Thank you for being a Prayer Partner for our school!
We all need to seek God in prayer with our joys, worries, and thankful moments. Thank you for being a prayer partner for our school. During Catholic Schools Week we will be lifting up the following in prayer.
Sunday – Pray for our Parish
Monday – Pray for Community Workers
Tuesday – Pray for all our Students
Wednesday – Pray for our Nation and Families
Thursday – Pray for the Bishop, Father Eric and other Religious Leaders
Friday – Pray for our Staff and Volunteers
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 1 John 5:14
PRAYER PARTNERS: Next week we will join together in prayer for our 3rd Grade Class.
Thanks to everyone who attended our Open House yesterday, and to all who participated in the 10:30 Mass!
We hope the dress themes and activities scheduled for this week provide the opportunity for students to
CELEBRATE the many wonderful aspects of our Catholic school! (See last week’s insert for full details.)
BOOKS FOR BREAKFAST: Parents and grandparents are invited to join us for Books for Breakfast in the parish hall on Wednesday, January 31 following Mass. Light refreshments will be served.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR JANUARY 25 – FEBRUARY 1: It’s Scholastic Book Fair Time! Our book fair started on Thursday, January 25 and will go through Thursday, February 1. The book fair will be available to students daily and during our Open House on Sunday, January 28 and Books for Breakfast on Wednesday, January 31.
HOME & SCHOOL ASSOCIATION MEETING – TUESDAY, JANUARY 30: The Home and School Association will hold its third meeting of the year at 6:00 pm this Tuesday, January 30 in the parish hall. Please join us and invite a fellow school parent to come with you! The agenda for this week’s meeting is enclosed. It’s sure to be an informative and fun meeting! Child care will be provided in a classroom, refreshments will be served, and by attending you’re eligible for a door prize!
NCEA DAY OF GIVING – JANUARY 30-31, 2018: The National Catholic Education Association is hosting an online giving campaign called, Day of Giving, on January 30-31. By leveraging social media, this national day of philanthropy and camaraderie will invite all people, across the country, who have been impacted by Catholic school education in ways big and small to financially donate at a local level. St. Francis School has its own personal donation page set up and we encourage all school families to share the link once it goes live. Watch our school’s Facebook Page and the H&S Facebook Group for more info.
SAFE ENVIRONMENT: If you received a packet in your weekly envelope last week regarding Safe Environment, please complete and return it by Wednesday, January 31. Please look for the name at the top of the form. It is required by the Diocese and we must be in compliance.
SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING VIDEO – TUESDAY, JANUARY 30: We will be offering the Safe Environment Video Training following our Home and School Meeting on Tuesday, January 30 in the Parish Hall. If you are in need of this requirement please plan to attend.
GIRLS ON THE RUN PROGRAM FOR GIRLS IN 3-5 GRADE: Information about this program is included in the weekly envelope for those students.
REGISTRATION FORMS FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR: Please send in your registration forms and tuition payment plans as soon as possible.
There is tuition assistance available to help those in need of financial support. An anonymous donor does not want the cost of tuition to inhibit your child from attending our school and may be able to help cover part of your tuition amount. Please contact Mr. Buckel for more information about tuition assistance for next year; all inquiries will be kept confidential.
4YK REGISTRATION FORMS: Registration information was sent out to potential 4YK students last week. If you do not received this letter, most likely I do not have your child’s name on our recruitment list but I’d love to add him/her! Please call me (715-273-4391), send a note, or e-mail for more information.

We are making progress with our Grand Raffle ticket sales. 61 of the 200 tickets are SOLD and paid for. Two are available and the remainders are all in families hands, waiting to be sold. There is still plenty of time to finalize the sale of those. Thanks for your effort in this! The result will be to raise the necessary funds that the school needs to function. If you absolutely do not intend on selling the tickets you have, please return them to the office. All families received at least 2 tickets. If you need more tickets to sell, please inquire at the office.
For Carnival Committee Members: Our next meeting will be Feb. 6th at 6 PM
GR. 5 PARENT & STUDENT MTG - “GROWING IN LOVE” – MONDAY, FEBRUARY 5: Wonder how you’ll talk with your child about his/her body changes as he/she approaches puberty? Alice Heinzen and Jeff Arrowood, of our diocesan Office of Family Life, have a presentation, entitled “Growing in Love”, for fifth grade parents and their child that conveys the information children need to know, integrated with appropriate humor and a deep respect for God’s gift of sexuality. Fifth grade students and their parents will meet for this presentation on Monday, February 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Because of the sensitive nature of the puberty topics that will be covered, no child may attend without his/her parent present.
FIRST COMMUNION PARENT MEETING – WEDNESDAY, FEBURAY 7: A First Communion parent meeting for second grade will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, February 7. Please note the date change as the original date for this meeting was February 21.
GR. 5 BAKE SALE – FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 9: Our fifth grade class will sponsor their first bake sale on Friday, February 9. Items will be sold for 50 cents apiece, with the proceeds being used toward the cost of their class trip to ValleyFair.
GR. K-5 ROLLER SKATING TRIP – THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15: Our skating party has been set for Thursday, February 15 for Kindergarten–Fifth Grade at Wooddale Recreation Center in Woodbury!
