Dear St. Francis School Families,
Dear Lord, may we make the right choices so we will learn better.
May we listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit,
which is a powerful guide in all the decisions we make.
We ask this through Jesus our Lord and Savior. Amen
Thank you for being a Prayer Partner for our school!

Thanks to our families who helped their children get into the spirit of Catholic Schools Week last week! We had wonderful participation in the dress themes and activities all throughout the week! Their creativity only added to the fun and made some happy memories for all involved.
Thank you to everyone who attended our Books for Breakfast and Mass last Wednesday, it was so nice to see such a great turnout! Our book fair was a huge success; we earned over $1,400.00 in free books!
REGISTRATION FORMS FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR: Please send in your registration forms and tuition payment plans as soon as possible. There is tuition assistance available to help those in need of financial support. An anonymous donor does not want the cost of tuition to inhibit your child from attending our school and may be able to help cover part of your tuition amount. Please contact Mr. Buckel for more information about tuition assistance for next year; all inquiries will be kept confidential.
HOME & SCHOOL MEETING MINUTES: The meeting minutes from last week’s Home & School Meeting are included in your
weekly envelope today.
GR. 5 PARENT & STUDENT MTG - “GROWING IN LOVE” – MONDAY, FEBRUARY 5 - TONIGHT: Wonder how you’ll talk with your child about his/her body changes as he/she approaches puberty? Alice Heinzen and Jeff Arrowood, of our diocesan Office of Family Life, have a presentation, entitled “Growing in Love”, for fifth grade parents and their child that conveys the information children need to know, integrated with appropriate humor and a deep respect for God’s gift of sexuality. Fifth grade students and their parents will meet for this presentation on Monday, February 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Because of the sensitive nature of the puberty topics that will be covered, no child may attend without his/her parent present.
FIRST COMMUNION PARENT MEETING – WEDNESDAY, FEBURAY 7: A First Communion parent meeting for second grade will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, February 7. Please note the date change as the original date for this meeting was February 21.
CARNIVAL: SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25th, 2018 11:30 to 4 PM
Carnival Raffle: Check out our progress below. There are still more Traditional ($1) Raffles available in the office. Thanks to all of you for your participation.
Carnival Volunteer Sign Up: The carnival would not be a success without the involvement of each family! In order to cover the nearly 100 positions for our many games and activities, we ask that both parents sign up for a shift. Please sign up here: http://signup.com/go/QsYBWFd

D.A.R.E. Police Officer Chad Koranda, Pierce County D.A.R.E. School Resource Officer, will begin teaching the D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) curriculum at St. Francis this week.
The primary goal of D.A.R.E. is to teach effective peer resistance and refusal skills, so that adolescents can say “no” to drugs and to their friends who may want them to use drugs. The secondary goals of the program are to build students’ social skills and enhance their self-esteem, as these are believed to be linked to adolescent drug use.
The curriculum is concentrated in the fifth grade with a 45 minute class once a week for 10 weeks. Grades K-4 will meet with Officer Chad as time permits.
